Yes accountability should be extended to special edcuation because education is education and no matter what class you are in there is still a realibiltiy that each student needs to learn something. Accountabiltiy means that special ed teachers need to focus on what needs to be taught for someone that age and also what is needed for everyday skills. This accountability should be in place for all teachers and not just the regular ed teachers. High school teachers are accountable to teach students certain things and these things are different from a middle or elementary teachers, so why should special education have special accommodations made. In any situation accountabiltiy is key whether it is good or bad.
i think standarized test are bad for evryone because they are based on one thing and don't include any accommodations. I suppose giving a standrized test to a child with disabilities isn't wrong, but not having the appropriate accommodations is. With that said I don not feel that starized test should be given to children with disabilities. By not making appropriate accommodations on the standarized test means that all the children that need that accommodation will probably score reasonably low when in actuality chould have excelled on the test. I know these stardarized test are the test that don't seperate anyone, but is that fair? I think that by not making the appropriate accommodations for the children with disabilities then I think all the individuals that wear corrective lenses should be told to take them off while taking a standarized test. Obviously that isn't exactly going to happen but I feel it is actually the same idea. If the standarized test are given with accommodations then the children with disabilites can take them.
