If I could make any changes in services provided for children with disabilities I would probably recommend that every child be given some form of aide once they have been diagnosed with a disability. Now this aide can be just some related services that will have to support the parents and to aide for the child with disabilities. I think this aide should be free to all individuals and not just the ones that they say can't afford it. I feel this way because just recently my friend's child was diagnosed with Autism and now she is really having a hard time covering all the therapy he needs because in someone's eyes she makes enough money to take care of it. With that I also think that with this aide there should be some coverage that will take care of all testing to make sure the right diagnosis was made. Going back to my friend I think if the aide was provided for her she wouldn't be paying out of pocket the all the testing that had to be done on her son. Now I do know there really isn't any for sure link that causes Autism, but that was just my example I gave for what kind of aide should be given. Besides that I think there should be some kind of consistency that can be related to all the programs out there providing services for children with special needs or disabilities. By consistency I mean that all organizations or support groups or teams out there should really have the same goals. Now I know these things are probably are in affect I just really think that need to be put out there right away especially to those newly parents of a child with a disability.
